There are some remarkable home security products that are available right now. These products might seem somewhat futuristic but are easy to install and use, giving your home a level of security that is both cool and convenient. So what are some of these products that can give your home an effective extra level of security?

Smart Locks

Smart locks are becoming more readily available and can be an effective (and rather cool) addition to your home's security capabilities. You can unlock your front door (or any door that has a smart lock) with your smartphone, or even with voice recognition. You can just tell your home to unlock itself and it will! It's also handy for remote unlocking. This allows you to unlock your home from wherever you are to allow visitors inside. Remote locking is also really convenient. You might be in bed, wondering if you've locked the front door. You can just activate the smart lock from your phone and lock your front door without getting up. Perhaps using an actual key will seem like a curiously old fashioned idea before too long.

Facial Recognition

You can even set up a system that allows your home to recognise people who enter it. A facial recognition system is a small indoor camera that can sit discreetly inside your home close to a main point of entry. You set up the system by having the camera take a photo of you and everyone else who lives in your home, and even the faces of your frequent visitors. The camera then scans the faces of everyone who enters your home, essentially recognising that they are someone who is permitted to be there. If an unknown person enters your home, the system conveniently sends an alert to your smartphone, complete with a photo of the person in question. Perhaps the person is known to you but has not been entered into your list of permitted persons. Perhaps the person is an intruder, and the notification allows you to contact the police from wherever you might be. It's an advanced and yet rather straightforward method of home security.

Smart Windows and Lights

But what about your windows? You can install a home automation system that allows you to protect your home with roller shutters which can be dropped at night, thus securing your windows. Some systems, such as those by Somfy, can be triggered remotely, which in conjunction with a smart lock allows you to effectively lock down your home from wherever you might be. These home automation systems can also be used in conjunction with a lighting package, giving the illusion that someone is at home. The lights come on and off to mimic natural usage, giving the idea that the home is inhabited. At a predetermined time, the lights go off and the roller shutters come down, making it look like whoever is at home has gone to bed. These security features are rather cool and yet are also conveniently easy to install and use. It's as though you are giving your home the ability to protect itself in an intelligent way.
